Requirements
  • Earned terminal academic degree in one of the disciplines represented by the College.
  • Strong record of teaching, research, scholarship, publication and professional experience warranting an appointment as a tenured professor.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development of faculty and staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of higher education administrative leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing higher education environment at the local, state, national, and international levels.
  • Cover letter addressing each minimum or required qualification with specific examples from the applicant's work history.
  • Curriculum vitae or resume.
  • Leadership statement of one to two pages explaining how the applicant's approach to innovation, strategic planning, and collaboration prepares them to lead the college in alignment with UW-Stout Polytechnic's mission and polytechnic values.
  • Official transcripts required at time of hire.
  • Three professional references, including at least one manager or supervisor, during the interview process.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, reference checks, and an essential job function test, as applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Work with faculty, staff, students and university administration to develop a vision for the College that will lead to increased student retention and enrollment through cultivation of existing programs and development of new program offerings.
  • Foster a culture that values collaboration, mutual respect, and active participation in support of learning and academic excellence.
  • Develop and implement strategies to hire and retain high-quality faculty and staff.
  • Foster collaborative, cross-disciplinary partnerships with shared governance and across all campus units.
  • Develop, promote, and implement year-round strategic enrollment management initiatives in collaboration with the Enrollment & Quality unit.
  • Manage college budgets responsibly to maximize student learning and faculty and staff professional development.
  • Evaluate faculty and staff, in coordination with department chairs, to facilitate continued professional growth and development.
  • Foster and expand partnerships through outreach and engagement with educational institutions, business, and the community.
  • Work with the UW-Stout Foundation & Alumni Association and other campus leaders to increase cultivation and stewardship and raise public and private funds for the College and University.
  • Support the missions of and advocate for all units in the College.
  • Implement the University's mission, vision, values, and FOCUS2030 goals in the context of the College.
  • Provide general oversight, strategic vision, operational leadership, and active leadership for the departments, schools, and centers comprising CSTEMM.
  • Expand applied learning opportunities such as apprenticeships, co-ops, and internships.
  • Seek and secure external funding opportunities, including grants, and expand business and industry partnerships.
  • Lead program development, strategic enrollment management, faculty and staff recruitment and retention, fiscal management, and student-success priorities.
  • Serve as building supervisor for academic buildings, including classroom and laboratory spaces.
  • Provide leadership for fundraising and development efforts, industry outreach, and relationships with accrediting bodies, alumni, employers, businesses, educational partnerships, and the community.

  • Demonstrated experience establishing and sustaining partnerships between business or industry and educational institutions.
  • Demonstrated skills in creative and entrepreneurial problem-solving.
  • Successful experience in fundraising, including grants and philanthropy, public relations, advisory committees or community boards, or communications to external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated alignment with the FOCUS2030 goals, mission, and values of UW-Stout Polytechnic.
