Atlas Energy to buy $840M in power assets from Caterpillar

Atlas Energy has signed a multiyear agreement to purchase $840 million in natural gas power generation assets from Caterpillar, securing 1.4 gigawatts of incremental capacity to meet rising electricity demand. The Austin-based company will acquire large natural gas reciprocating generator sets, including Caterpillar's CG260-16 and G3520 models, for behind-the-meter and bridge power applications. Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2029, with annual price increases capped at 8%. The deal includes an extension option for additional orders.
