Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for Environmental, Health and Safety performance, compliance, and risk management across a global business area.
  • Lead the development and execution of Environmental, Health and Safety programs that prevent significant incidents, strengthen regulatory compliance, and foster safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to integrate Environmental, Health and Safety into business strategy, operational decision-making, and daily activities.
  • Lead a global team of direct and indirect Environmental, Health and Safety professionals while driving operational excellence, risk mitigation, and consistent performance across supported locations.
  • Staff, mentor, and develop above-site and site Environmental, Health and Safety professionals to ensure compliance.
  • Provide functional Environmental, Health and Safety guidance to AbbVie organizations supported day to day by manufacturing site Environmental, Health and Safety leads and their staff.
  • Develop programs and systems to prevent catastrophic safety and environmental events.
  • Negotiate with external Environmental, Health and Safety regulatory agencies worldwide.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and regulatory issues that may impact the business.
  • Contribute to the global Environmental, Health and Safety vision and Long-Range Plan strategy.
