Requirements
- Strong understanding of the basics of visual design-including typography, color, layout, and composition-and how to apply those towards size-constrained screens
- Systems-thinking mindset that allows them to scale design decisions quickly and help bring others along with them
- Passion for building applications and interactions on mobile devices
- Deep understanding and experience of how to build products that adhere to and build on both Google's Material Design and Apple's Human Interface Guidelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; showcasing an ability to clearly communicate with team members, cross-functional partners, and company leadership
- A track record of successfully collaborating with design, marketing, and engineering partners to translate user needs, business goals, marketing insights, and project constraints into informed design output
- Ability to independently prioritize work based on project objectives and business goals, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain Retool Mobile components that developers will use to create mobile applications in Retool
- Iterate on the functionality inside of the Retool editor on desktop to help make the process of creating Retool Mobile applications more seamless and delightful
- Build interactive prototypes in both Figma and the prototyping tool of your choosing to help push the interaction patterns on mobile to feel responsive, native, and intuitive
- Work with customers to understand their needs deeply to help find solutions that solve their problems and fit within the vision of the Retool mobile product
- Collaborate with other designers across the organization to ensure the Retool Mobile product fits into the overall vision with how Retool works and functions for developers and end-users
- Be the de facto mobile design expert to help the design team and company best understand the benefits and constraints of mobile design
- Partner with cross-functional partners to define project requirements and scope against business objectives, both on quarterly and sprint-based cadences
- Work with engineering to best determine best paths forward on how to implement designs with a high quality bar
- Be an active participant in design at Retool, providing thoughtful feedback across design and product teams in critiques, reviews, and more
Desired Qualifications
- Likely has at least 7~ years of experience as a professional designer. if working on a consumer mobile app during that time (If you feel confident in your abilities and have less experience, feel free still to apply)
