Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental or physical science, environmental or civil engineering, environmental policy, environmental planning, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, specifically including experience in managing and/or preparing NEPA EAs and EISs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of experience in compliance with NEPA.
  • Ideal candidates will have project management experience including developing project schedules, budgets, and meeting client goals.
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with Federal, state, and local permitting for infrastructure projects.
  • Ideal candidates will have background and technical understanding in cultural and historic resources, water quality, marine and ocean resources, or visual resources.
Responsibilities
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in the preparation of environmental impact assessments (i.e., NEPA Environmental Assessments [EAs], Environmental Impact Statements [EISs], and state-level impact assessments).
  • Manage projects to meet client goals and expectations and foster positive client relationships.
  • Lead various aspects of projects such as tracking budgets and schedules, monitoring scopes, facilitating meetings, coordinating deliverables, and communicating with clients.
  • Lead the development of strategies for project-specific environmental impact assessments and provide expert technical direction and oversight for the completion of those assessments.
  • Provide working- to expert-level guidance related to compliance with environmental statutes, regulations, and executive orders, including but not limited to the National Historic Preservation Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, and Clean Air Act.
  • Support the development of agency-specific NEPA programs, including developing standard operating procedures, guidelines, and training.
  • Lead consultations and public outreach with local, state, and federal resource management agencies.
  • Perform desktop-based research and report development and conduct occasional site visits.
  • Advise and mentor junior to mid-level staff.
