Requirements
  • MS or Ph.D degree in robotics, mechatronics or other automation-centric field, including systems engineering, control engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related engineering field
  • 10 years of experience in MBSE, including experience using MBSE in highly-regulated safety-critical industries like automotive, aerospace and defense, or medical robotics
  • Deep competence in at least one core robotics and autonomy discipline, especially systems control, embedded software, or artificial intelligence & machine learning (AI/ML)
  • Experience customizing system-level architectural frameworks, including TOGAF, DoDAF, MoDAF, Arcadia or other system-of-systems frameworks, to align with application and organizational needs
  • Experience with design and development of complex autonomous, mechatronic or robotic systems
  • Experience integrating optimization-based methodologies into architecture design and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, document and institutionalize new engineering tools and processes
  • Proven ability to develop safety-critical requirements, architectures and tests using MBSE methods
  • Deep understanding of the MBSE toolchain including UML/SysML modeling tools like Cameo, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody or equivalent offerings
  • Experience customizing and deploying requirements management tools across a large matrixed engineering organization, using DOORS, Contour, Jama or equivalent integrated tools
  • Hands-on experience integrating hazard & risk analysis, fault trees, failure mode & effect analysis (FMEA), and other safety-centric methodologies into the MBSE toolchain
  • Embedded software development experience in an MBSE-centric framework, including use of autocode tools like Matlab-Simulink, Rhapsody in C, or similar code generators to accelerate coding

Responsibilities
  • Lead the effort in model-based systems engineering for autonomous driving applications, including SysML/UML models of ConOps and requirements, architecture models, and GSN trees for the safety case framework
  • Act as a deep subject matter expert on all aspects of model-based systems engineering, including developing appropriately tailored simulation & analysis methods to generate robust requirements for defensive driving and other complex autonomy behaviors
  • Own selection and institutionalization of all engineering tools and processes necessary to provide bi-directional traceability of product requirements through to validated products
  • Responsible for end-to-end systems engineering process connectivity across the design lifecycle, including documentation, workflow automation, and development efficiency measurement
  • Work closely with software and hardware engineering leadership to ensure tight connectivity and alignment with the overall system architecture and application intent
  • Hire, develop and retain strong talent, building a state-of-the-art MBSE capability that maximizes design reuse, reduces refactoring across applications, and accelerates development
  • Identify broader MBSE needs and evangelize increased use of model-based design and verification methods to ensure Automotive BU accomplishes its key business objectives
Desired Qualifications
  • Automotive industry engineering experience, with a Level 2+ autonomous vehicle developer
  • Understanding of ISO 21448, ISO26262, DO-178B/C, or ARP4761 safety-critical system standards
  • Ability to write, review or functionally understand implemented C++ and/or Python code
