Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the Respiratory Care Clinical Instructor responsibilities outlined in the Respiratory Clinical Educator Handbook.
  • Promote a safe learning community environment and maintain professional competence.
  • Provide effective instruction so students' educational needs are met and specified learning objectives are achieved.
  • Support the mission, values, and guiding principles of Santa Fe Community College, the Division of Science, Health, Engineering and Math, and the Respiratory Care Program.
  • Teach assigned day or evening courses according to official syllabi and course outlines, using approved textbooks and learning materials.
  • Meet all classes regularly and on time, as scheduled, and for their full duration.
  • Evaluate student performance, including attainment of learning objectives and competencies, and assign grades.
  • Maintain accurate student records using program data management systems.
  • Participate in the respiratory care program's review of courses and schedules.
  • Assist in curriculum development.
  • Participate in preparing and revising the educational program by evaluating course syllabi and content, course outlines, student needs, instructional materials, methods, resources, and current respiratory care practice.
  • Make recommendations for improvement to the Respiratory Therapy Program Director and Director of Clinical Education.
  • Arrange with the Clinical Educational Coordinator or Director for class coverage when absent.
  • Meet deadlines for submitting grades and other required student information.
  • Attend faculty meetings, December graduate pinning exercises, May graduation exercises, and other appropriate convocations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.
  • Two years of clinical respiratory therapy practice, recent neonatal, pediatric, or adult critical care experience, and/or recent clinical instruction experience are preferred.
