The company updated its developer website to confirm that all future Fire TV Sticks, starting with the Fire TV Stick 4K Select released in October, will run on Vega OS, Amazon's proprietary operating system that blocks unofficial apps. The newly announced Fire TV Stick HD includes a notice stating the device prevents sideloading for "enhanced security". Vega OS only permits apps published in the Amazon Appstore, though developers can still sideload on registered devices. Amazon's shift from Fire OS, an Android fork that allowed sideloading, comes amid pressure from anti-piracy groups. Goldman Sachs has lowered its price target on Amazon to $275 from $280 whilst maintaining a Buy rating ahead of the company's earnings report on 30 April 2026.
