The role
As an Engineering Manager for the Onboarding and Authentication team, your role is pivotal in optimizing our onboarding funnel to ensure maximum approval rates with minimal drop-off, directly contributing to One’s overarching vision of seamless user experiences. Your team’s efforts in scaling existing channels, adding new ones, and refining our authentication platform are crucial for enhancing customer satisfaction, reducing operational costs, and maintaining high levels of account security, aligning directly with One’s mission and goals.
This role will:
Manage full-stack delivery team
Motivate, engage, coach and provide leadership to a team of highly-skilled and remotely distributed software engineers
Partner with technical and business leaders to plan, prioritize and execute our product roadmap
Drive the adoption of key engineering best practices to improve the quality and reliability of the team’s deliverables
You bring
Mid Career (5-10 Years) with at least 2 years directly managing engineers
An act-like-an-owner mentality. We have a bias toward taking action.
Deep understanding of distributed system design patterns and hands-on experience developing internet applications
Experience managing applications in a production environment that supports high availability, resilience, and low latency at scale; exposure to managing production outages and remediations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
The ability to decipher “wants” versus “needs” and negotiate prioritization accordingly
Tools we use
We use the fp-ts library for functional programming with Node/TypeScript running on top of Kubernetes and AWS. We believe great engineers can learn any stack, so you do not need experience with these specific tools, but you’ll ramp up more quickly if you are familiar with functional programming concepts.
Pay Transparency
The estimated annual base salary for this position ranges from $175,000 to $215,000. Pay is generally based upon the level, complexity, responsibility, and job duties / requirements of the specific position. We then source candidates with the requisite skills, expertise, education, training, and experience. Leveling Philosophy
In order to thoughtfully scale the company and avoid downstream inequities, we’ve adopted a flat titling structure at One. Though we may occasionally post a role externally with a prefix such as “Senior” to reflect the external level of the position, we do not use prefixes in titles like that internally unless in a position which manages a team. Internal titles typically include your specific functional responsibility, such as engineering, product management or sales, and often include additional descriptors to ensure clarity of role and placement within our organization (i.e. “Engineer, Platform”, “Sales, Business Development” or “Manager, Talent”). Employees are paid commensurate with their experience and the internal level within One.
