Requirements
  • A BA/BS degree and 8+ years of related experience, including 8+ years as a subject matter expert in the respective area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 4+ years leading individual contributors and leaders of leaders, or an approved equivalent mix of leadership experience and MedImpact experience with leadership training and mentorship.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and databases.
  • Working knowledge of the health benefits arena and government prescription programs, preferably in pharmacy benefits management.
  • Knowledge of healthcare products and contracts is preferred.
  • Consultative selling and negotiation skills.
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation, persuasion, and consulting skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems involving varied concrete situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.
  • Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage an Account Team and develop state-specific business plans focused on program goals, performance expectations, membership growth, and objectives.
  • Ensure deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet expected quality levels for internal and external customers.
  • Provide direction and management over key teams to monitor the quality of products and services offered to the State.
  • Coordinate training for new staff members and provide ongoing coaching to existing Account Management teams.
  • Use project management skills to track milestones and deliverables, recognize and notify stakeholders of risk indicators, and provide regular internal and external status updates.
  • Optimize sustainable growth and profitability by identifying and aligning resources with business goals.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with assigned State contacts, including pharmacy directors, executives, and key decision-makers.
  • Research and analyze trends and competitive practices to contextualize the State strategy within program requirements, industry, and marketplace demands.
  • Monitor the service continuum, resolve escalated issues, and ensure ongoing issues are resolved promptly.
  • Perform a 360-degree review of account performance across operational service delivery and relationship management, identify gaps, and source corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Information Technology, Health Services, Sales, and other Account Management Directors to improve processes and client service.
  • Analyze claims results and identify discrepancies, inaccuracies, anomalies, and unexpected consequences.
  • Report on performance measures, performance guarantees, and client initiatives.
  • Take accountability for promptly resolving adjudication configuration issues.
  • Complete special projects, including leading workgroups, overseeing projects or new system functionality development, and mentoring or training staff.
  • Provide regular feedback to management regarding client requirement status and business development opportunities.
  • Identify and recommend solutions for client and operational improvements.
  • Manage assigned staff and direct, coordinate, and evaluate the unit.
  • Interview, hire, train, assign work to, appraise, reward, and discipline employees, and address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Manage client situations, respond promptly to client needs, solicit feedback, respond to service requests, and meet commitments to clients.

MedImpact to present on optimizing pharmacy benefits at MACo Summer Conference. The Maryland Association of Counties announced on July 16 that MedImpact will host a session titled "Optimizing Pharmacy Benefits for Counties" during the Solutions Showcase at its 2026 Summer Conference. The event is scheduled to take place at the Roland Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Maryland, from August 12 to August 15. According to the announcement, MedImpact's session will address strategies for making pharmacy benefits easier to understand and more cost effective for counties. The session description states, "For most employer-sponsored health insurance plans, pharmacy benefits are the most frequently used and challenging. MedImpact seeks to make these benefits easy to understand and cost effective." It also notes that while pharmacy benefit managers are under scrutiny from mandates affecting Maryland pharmacies and retailers, there may be opportunities within the State of Maryland's current employee benefits contract that could benefit county governments. The Solutions Showcase session is set for August 14 from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. Organizers encourage attendees to register for the conference in order to participate in this and other sessions. MedImpact launches GLP-1 Benefit 360 to tackle obesity medication costs with capped pricing

MedImpact, the largest independent pharmacy benefits company in the US, has launched two solutions to manage rising GLP-1 medication costs whilst improving patient access: GLP-1 Benefit 360 and GLP-1 Direct Fund. GLP-1 Benefit 360 offers capped pricing for plans and members, integrated lifestyle support through the MedEmpower Fuel mobile app, and access to registered dietitians. The solution addresses the issue that over half of patients discontinue GLP-1 therapy within three months by providing personalised coaching at no additional cost. The GLP-1 Direct Fund allows healthcare payers to contribute set amounts toward direct-to-consumer pricing, offering members lower out-of-pocket costs whilst protecting plans from unpredictable cost increases. Both solutions bypass traditional high-cost pharmacy models to provide predictable pricing and clinical support.

MHW Benefit Partners helps small and mid-sized businesses, working independently or in groups, form, grow, and evolve captives, consortiums, and other employee benefit programmes. MSL Captive Solutions provides medical stop-loss insurance to protect self-insured employers from potentially catastrophic healthcare claims. Partnering with A-rated insurance companies, it underwrites individual employer stop-loss and captive programmes. Announcing the deals, MedImpact stated they expand its portfolio of care and coverage solutions, "providing employers with modular, cost-effective alternatives to traditional insurance carriers." "By integrating specialised risk management and alternative financing, MedImpact offers small and mid-sized businesses the transparency, flexibility, and cost control typically reserved for large, self-insured corporations," the company said. The two companies join MG Insurance as MedImpact's main risk management and underwriting brands, providing captive programmes and stop-loss protections.
