Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, social sciences, or a technical/scientific field is required.
  • Experience preparing, processing, and negotiating federal grants and contract proposals and awards is required.
  • Demonstrated excellence supporting a diverse range of internal and external customers is required.
  • A high degree of accuracy in all work processes is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines is required.
  • Clear, polished, and professional written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize financial and budgetary information and take appropriate action without immediate supervision is required.
  • Adherence to all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the administration and allocation of grant funds is required.
Responsibilities
  • Produce budget projections and distribute financial reports to Principal Investigators; provide support and guidance in reading and interpreting Statements of Accounts.
  • Provide informed recommendations to faculty to ensure all funds are allocated in accordance with sponsor guidelines.
  • Monitor account balances to ensure grant accounts are in good standing; identify and promptly address deficits by processing account transfers.
  • Support faculty during the annual sponsor review process and provide guidance on technical and financial reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with School of Nursing colleagues to process research-funded costing allocation changes in Workday.
  • Interact with other University of Texas at Austin departments, including the Office of Sponsored Projects and the Vice President for Research, to resolve complex grant issues.
  • Process transactions accurately and promptly using internal systems such as DEFINE, Cognos, and FRMS, and external systems such as Research Management Systems, eRA Commons, FastLane, ORCID, NIH Commons, Cayuse, and SciENcv.
  • Troubleshoot systems issues and provide support to faculty.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the School of Nursing.
Desired Qualifications
  • RACC Certified Research Administrator or Certified Financial Research Administrator certification.
  • More than five years of experience administering grants, contracts, and/or awards in an academic setting.
