We are seeking a Vice President of Communications to lead the company’s communications function, with responsibility for the development and execution of a compelling communications strategy; strong and resonant messaging; rolling out that messaging across all audiences and channels; and managing the media relations function. A successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping MongoDB’s brand narrative and ensuring cohesive and compelling messaging across all channels. They will also possess the ability to lead a range of communications teams, a deep understanding of the tech industry, and a proven track record in leading transformative communication initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead our messaging: Develop a compelling and comprehensive messaging strategy that up-levels MongoDB’s brand, is aligned to the company’s strategic vision, and resonates strongly with customers and other stakeholders
- Execute and roll out key messaging: Create and refine key messages in accordance with the refreshed messaging strategy and own dissemination across all channels and platforms, including PR, executive communications, analyst relations, executive keynotes, sales materials, customer references, and digital properties
- Maintain a rigorous operating rhythm: Take a metrics-driven approach to all messaging and brand-related initiatives. Set clear KPIs at the outset, track progress against those KPIs, adjust strategies as needed based on what’s working and what’s not working, and regularly report results to the executive team
- Keep us on the cutting edge: Proactively work with the executive team, other internal teams, and relevant industry stakeholders to stay on the cutting edge of what’s happening in our industry to ensure our messaging is fresh and relevant
- Lead and grow the full communications function: Manage and mentor a range of communications teams spanning PR, analyst relations, internal communications, crisis communications, and executive communications to ensure consistent, coherent, and strong messaging across all touchpoints. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation by managing and mentoring these high-performing global teams
- Develop and drive a strong media relations function to manage all press and industry analyst relationships; pitch and place stories across all business and industry media; and support and train all company spokespeople

- Media relations: Expertise in developing and driving a robust media relations strategy, including developing relationships with key media across all relevant media channels, media training of key executives and management of the overall media relations function
- Proven experience: 10+ years of experience in communications with a focus on technology, preferably within cloud, database, or AI sectors. Experience leading transformational communications initiatives within scaled marketing organizations ($1B+ revenue)
- Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading and inspiring their own and adjacent teams. Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence all levels of an organization

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:
$152,000—$298,000 USD
