Requirements
  • At least 4 years of experience in the mechanical design of gas-turbine or turbomachinery components.
  • A minimum Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience with NX and ANSYS Classic or ANSYS Workbench, or similar tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work under time constraints, maintain composure, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact with employees and managers at all levels with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent-resident status.
  • Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and modify aero-engine component designs by analyzing product specifications, performance requirements, and existing manufacturing capabilities.
  • Execute mechanical design projects for gas-turbine components, including structures and rotating parts such as frames, shafts, disks, blisks, and seals, and airfoils such as blades, vanes, and nozzles.
  • Evaluate new-design concepts and improvements, manufacturing methods, materials, and processes; complete required documentation by applying engineering principles and industry standards; and generate reports, procedures, or change proposals.
  • Capture customer design and system requirements and incorporate them into component designs.
  • Support technical substantiation and contribute to and present in technical and program reviews.
  • Develop components and modules while considering cost, performance, life, and system requirements.
  • Design and analyze components using computer-aided engineering tools, including NX and ANSYS Classic or ANSYS Workbench.
  • Interface directly with internal and external engineering functions.
  • Apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to solve engineering problems.
  • Evaluate component form, fit, function, and life relative to the certified configuration.
  • Evaluate non-conformances by reviewing design criteria and acceptability limits, recommending disposition procedures, and maximizing producibility.
  • Work primarily in office environments with occasional shop-floor involvement and adhere to procedures in heavily regulated industries.
  • Meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early when needed.
