Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or other related field
  • Six or more years of advanced skills with Microsoft Office
  • Five or more years of work experience as a Technical Writer developing technical content including manuals, online user guides, and system documentation
  • Four or more years of experience developing role based end user materials for information technology applications or systems
  • Two or more years of technical support work experience
  • Excellent writing, verbal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, oral presentation, planning, and adult-learning/workforce teaching skills
  • Ability and flexibility to travel frequently across the State of Georgia
  • Ability to work during Emergency Operations Center operations and stay at state or District operation centers for multiple days during events such as snow/ice
  • Energetic, inquisitive, and positive attitude within critical situations
  • Resourceful, hands-on, can-do attitude
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly in a mission critical environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to grasp complex concepts and translate them into layman’s language
  • Strong commitment to providing superior customer service
  • Experience in course design and development
  • Experience in developing training content such as user manuals, handouts, slides, exercises, and web-based training
  • Ability to maintain a personal credit card for expenses with reimbursement of authorized expenses
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Client will reimburse authorized travel expenses including lodging and meals
  • Client will reimburse authorized travel use of a personal vehicle or rental car
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Able to stand, stoop, kneel, lift, etc. to work with users and equipment
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with developing content for emergency response agencies or information technology systems
  • Emergency management work experience
  • Public Communications Officer work experience
  • Experience in developing content for a civil engineering transportation workforce
  • Three or more years of experience with course delivery tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, Lectora, or SharePoint
  • Strong technical background in computers, transportation, or government
  • Familiarity with Information Technology Infrastructure Library or Remedy
