Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified. - OR - Completion of course work and internship requirements in a qualified MLS program and eligibility to sit for the BOC. Certification must be completed and documented within 6 months of hire to remain in the registered MLS role.
  • Medical Technologist / Medical Lab Scientist certification or equivalent certification as approved by Manager and Human Resources. Certification must be maintained to remain in job.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays, nights and on-call.
Responsibilities
  • performing a variety of laboratory tests of varying complexity to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of disease
  • act as a technical expert to clinical staff, co-workers, and other departments
  • ensure accurate results through quality control, proficiency testing, calibrations, record review, instrument maintenance, and results/analyzer troubleshooting
  • take on additional responsibilities such as key operator, QC review, training and mentoring new staff, assisting with evaluation and validation of new equipment, technical writing, compliance readiness (CAP, CLIA, etc.), and acting as interim Team Lead
