Requirements
  • Knowledge of advanced layout, use of Simon forms, layout of anchor bolts, material takeoff from drawings, and safety requirements for building work.
  • Ability to learn and understand work-related safety hazards and safely and effectively operate work-related tools and equipment.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds, with occasional loads up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive use of the hands, arms, and legs, with adequate hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to hear, comprehend, and speak to safely perform work.
  • Ability to perform sedentary to heavy work, climb and maintain balance on steel or wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds, and work in confined spaces when required.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, including electric, gas, and pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and supervision.
  • Reading and writing comprehension sufficient to give and receive directions and follow safety policies.
  • Ability to use mathematics and complete calculations, make decisions, concentrate amid distractions, and examine and observe details.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and on uneven, muddy, loose-rock, or loose-soft-sand surfaces.
Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints and sketches, and complete reports.
  • Instruct laborers and other construction trade helpers.
  • Build and set forms; use a level instrument; tie rebar; build scaffolding; perform finish carpentry; read a tape or ruler; set screeds; install batter boards; and operate various hand and power tools.
  • Inspect areas and conduct repairs or maintenance.
  • Assist other craft workers as needed.
