Requirements
  • An associate's degree or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of an American Medical Association-approved school or training program, a 24-month approved School of Radiologic Technology program, or other approved training such as military training is required.
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists is required.
  • Registration in an advanced modality through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required.
  • Licensure by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • At least one year of experience as a registered radiological technologist and CT, MRI, or mammography technologist is required.
  • At least two years of multimodality experience is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
  • Candidates must be able to perform the listed standing, sitting, walking, stair-climbing, bending, squatting, lifting, reaching, sensory, vision, hearing, motor, and confined-space job functions.
  • Candidates must be able to work in a latex-safe environment and, where applicable, qualify physically for respirator use.
Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality radiology, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, or mammography examinations according to established protocols for patients ranging from neonates through geriatrics.
  • Operate radiology and computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, or mammography equipment while following radiation-safety guidelines, hospital policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide radiographic support for all hospital areas as needed.
  • Position patients accurately for specific anatomic imaging using appropriate immobilization devices when required.
  • Avoid excessive repeat examinations by following established guidelines.
  • Rotate flexibly among advanced imaging modalities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is preferred.
