Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred; additional years of experience beyond the two-year minimum may be considered in lieu of the diploma or GED.
  • At least two years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health conditions, and/or substance misuse.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required, including desktop computing, email, timesheet management, electronic health records, internet research, and learning relevant software applications.
  • Ability to enter data on a mobile handheld device while in the field.
  • Ability to work with a partner and complete assignments within given instructions, prescribed routines, and accepted practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and providing customer service.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before beginning employment, subject to qualifying medical or religious accommodations.
  • Ability to sit at a desk with ergonomically appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to talk, listen, retain information, and speak clearly and accurately, including in situations involving loud or vulgar language and hostile gestures.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance and work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to remain awake during the entire shift, including break times.
  • Ability to drive a multi-passenger van at night, physically support passengers during ingress and egress, and assist disabled individuals during emergency evacuation.
  • Ability to travel within the community in inclement weather, including walking, driving agency vehicles, and using public transportation.
  • Ability to carry computer equipment and ascend or descend stairs while carrying it.
Responsibilities
  • Use personal experiences to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with participants experiencing homelessness or economic insecurity and behavioral health needs.
  • Assist participants in identifying and accessing community resources and developing natural supports to increase their success in the community.
  • Connect participants to short-term housing such as shelters, cafes, or safe havens, including driving participants to community-based establishments when required.
  • Provide de-escalation and crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Report known conduct by employees that violates organizational policy or law to management, Quality Improvement and Compliance, and/or Human Resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to fulfill the organization's mission.
Desired Qualifications
  • Credentialing as a Certified Peer Specialist is a plus.
