Upstream USA is a nonprofit that reduces unplanned pregnancies by expanding access to a full range of contraceptive options. It partners with healthcare centers nationwide to improve how reproductive care is delivered and to support patient autonomy and choice. The organization works by training healthcare providers, offering technical resources, and streamlining clinic workflows so patients can receive effective contraceptive care—often during a single visit, including long-acting options like IUDs and implants. It differentiates itself by pursuing large-scale systems changes within the healthcare infrastructure using a data-driven approach to measure impact, ensuring improvements are sustainable beyond initial training. Its goal is to lower the rate of unplanned pregnancies across the United States, thereby expanding life opportunities for individuals to decide if and when to become pregnant.
