Aalo Atomics has signed a fuel fabrication contract with Global Nuclear Fuel, a GE Vernova-led alliance with Hitachi, to supply fabricated fuel rods for its sodium-cooled extra modular nuclear reactor. GNF will deliver uranium dioxide fuel rods made from low-enriched uranium in early 2026. The fuel rods will power Aalo-X, expected to be the first advanced reactor built in the US in over a generation, with criticality targeted for 2026. Aalo has recently secured site allocation from the Department of Energy's Idaho Operations Office, broken ground at the INL test site, and received an Environmental Assessment Determination.
