Requirements
  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • Valid Florida Licensure in relevant field
  • Board Certification
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • 2+ years of recent experience in primary care
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making critical decisions
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office)
Responsibilities
  • Oversee healthcare delivery provided by General Internal Medicine APPs along with the Division Chief and/or physician delegate
  • Identify APP learning needs and provide or collaboratively develop learning experiences to meet those needs
  • Assess APPs clinical performance and productivity regularly and report findings to the Division Chief
  • Complete the annual APP evaluation, provide feedback and counsel to all GIM APPs
  • Evaluate and approve or deny time off for all APPs in accordance with UHealth policy with input from clinic leaders
  • Participate in the recruitment of GIM APPs
  • Maintain ambulatory setting care and related duties including on-call telephone coverage after business hours and weekends as necessary
  • Assist with Medicare Advantage patient population related activities and documentation (preferred)
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds to ensure quality care
  • Serve as liaison between APPs and hospital leadership, department heads, and collaborating physicians
  • Assist APPs in clinical integration on hire and throughout employment
  • Coordinate learning experiences for APP preceptors and students with university liaisons
  • Identify opportunities to promote full scope of practice in the advanced practice model
  • Standardize advanced practice processes between patient care services and collaborative teams
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain credentialing, competencies, and professional standards for all APPs
  • Coordinate coverage across weekdays and weekends between satellites, hospitals, and outpatient areas
  • Engage and empower staff, lead and support during times of transition, and communicate purpose to embrace change
  • Contribute to design, development, and implementation of strategic and operational initiatives at unit/division/department level
  • Prioritize competing demands while integrating strategic plan into daily operations
  • Recruit, hire, and facilitate training and orientation; manage, recognize, and reward performance; provide ongoing feedback
  • Collect data for patient and program evaluation and participate in quality assessment and improvement/patient experience activities
  • Establish and assess internal controls and ensure compliance with university policies; train employees on controls and policies

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Medicare Advantage (65+) patient population preferred
  • Completion of Medicare annual wellness exam documentation preferred
  • Knowledge of HEDIS Quality Care Gaps review and closure preferred
  • Knowledge of Hierarchical Condition Category review and recertification preferred
