Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering
  • 5 plus years of experience in the physical design of high voltage substations
  • PE license
  • Strong background in Microsoft Word, Mathcad, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, CDEGS grounding software, CYMCAP, LitePro, FEAP, Southwire SAG/Ten, Alcoa, Vehicle Tracking, SAP-2000
Responsibilities
  • Checks conduit, grounding, control shelter, electrical arrangements, outdoor lighting and equipment vendor design packages
  • Performs and checks grounding calculations
  • Performs and checks conduit fill calculations
  • Performs and checks pulling tension calculations
  • Performs and checks vehicle tracking calculations
  • Performs and checks outdoor lighting calculations
  • Performs and checks lightning protection designs calculations
  • Performs and checks substation Sag-10 calculations
  • Performs and checks flexible jumper calculations
  • Performs and checks bus design calculations
  • Performs and checks arc-flash calculations
  • Performs and checks insulation coordination calculations
  • Performs and checks underground ampacity calculations
  • Creates and checks material list descriptions for all major equipment
  • Creates and checks material list descriptions for all minor substation material
  • Answers technical questions posed by construction managers, field staff, project managers, customers and their representatives
  • Recognize and recommend methods to improve customer’s experience
  • Perform other studies as able and required
  • Travels periodically to both customer offices for project meetings and to job sites for construction visits and testing
  • Manages day-to-day activities of schedule and design of projects assigned to them
  • Coordinates and problem solves between design teams and departments
