Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
  • Eight years progressive experience managing institutional and/or utilities projects of various sizes large & small for a single owner, and experience in leadership roles working directly with clients.
  • Knowledge of institutional leadership models, project management methods, and contemporary organizational models related to the design and construction industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple simultaneous activities in a diverse and complex environment.
  • Ability to manage change and work effectively in a changing environment.
  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in all directions of the organization.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have a class "C" operator's driver's license.
  • The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence.
  • If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
  • Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Responsibilities
  • Lead team of project managers providing design and construction management services for higher education, athletics, auxiliary, research and/or healthcare projects for all UT Austin campuses.
  • Mentor, guide, and manage PMs individually and as a collective team.
  • Ensures and provides on-boarding, training, and performance evaluation for PMs.
  • Assists and informs PM and leadership with SOP, policy change, and organization and process improvement.
  • Serves as a liaison for major client(s).
  • Lead one or more Capital Improvement Program projects, high risk projects, projects with a high level of complexity, or other critical projects in support of client-identified needs.
  • Disseminate information and directives from leadership to team in order to achieve maximum success in meeting client and UT mission and vision.
  • In collaboration with PDC leadership develop commonalities and best practices, and identify the right work at the right time to deliver the highest value.
  • Prioritize and allocate resources to ensure delivery of key initiatives, and maintain agility to maximize resource utilization againstongoing changing needs of clients.
  • Interpret information and ascertain a plan of action, utilizing existing resources and staff.
  • Collaborate with UT UEM (Utilities & Energy Management) department to determine campus needs and prioritizations.
  • Effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Serves on committees, task forces, etc. to improve project delivery.
  • May represent the Office of Campus Construction at University events.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or Business, or a closely related professional field.
  • Professionally licensed Architect, Engineer or Interior Designer in the State of Texas.
  • Eight or more years of experience leading and managing professional staff in a design or construction organization.
  • Professionally licensed architect or engineer, with registration (or ability to become registered within six months) in the State of Texas.
  • Related specialty certificates such as LEED AP, PMP, CEFP, or similar.
