We are looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Software Engineer (AWS) with experience working with high-traffic production deployments and Amazon Web Services. You would be joining our Experiences Supply Engineering team which builds and operates APIs that power the fastest growing category within Tripadvisor, enabling our users to find and book the best things to do wherever they’re traveling!

As a Senior Cloud Software Engineer (AWS) you will work with engineers across our Supply Engineering and internal platform teams in developing, integrating, and operating any and all software necessary to ensure reliable delivery of our content to our website and native applications. You will also play an active role in on-going efforts to migrate existing on-premise services into AWS, driving cloud-first best practices.

What You’ll Do:

• Shape our Future:  Work with other dedicated experienced engineers to migrate critical functionality to cloud-native architectures.
• Empower Operational Excellence: Ensure adequate monitoring and observability to proactively identify and diagnose system degradations and potential problems.
• Facilitate Development: Reduce friction and improve reliability in development, testing, and deployment to production.
• Practice Accountability: Participate in periodic on-call duties and ensure that incident root causes are identified, debugged and resolved to prevent recurrence.

Who You Are:

• 8+ years of experience in operations experience
• 3+ years of AWS experience
• Solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and Object Oriented Software Design.
• Strong Java background, including developing and debugging highly-concurrent, high-throughput systems, a strong plus
• Experience with Microservices-based architecture and Container Orchestration
• Strong understanding of AWS technologies (e.g. EKS, ECS, RDS, Dynamo), AWS Certifications a plus
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies like Terraform and/or CDK
• Experience with production Cloud deployments and integrated CI/CD pipelines
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving cloud issues, including identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks
• Experience with Apache Solr / ElasticSearch / AWS OpenSearch a plus
• Experience with Kafka a plus
• Experience with Istio a plus.
• Familiarity with Hive / Hadoop / Spark / Snowflake a plus
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and GraphQL are a plus

The salary range for this role is $140,000 to $195,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. An employee’s pay position within the wage range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance and business or organizational needs. This compensation range may also be modified in the future.
