  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management abilities

Responsibilities
  • Produce a steady stream of compelling enterprise stories that highlight Prince George’s County schools’ most interesting issues and trends and hold public officials accountable
  • Break news stories on the education beat
  • Tell stories in creative and nontraditional formats, making use of visuals, social media and data
  • Collaborate with The Banner's audience and data teams to engage the audience and distribute your stories across all platforms
  • Work in coordination with other Banner editors, reporters and staff to cover education and related topics
  • Develop a strong source network across the education community, including teachers, parents, administrators, school board members, lawmakers and experts
  • Build trust with communities to move beyond routine school board coverage and find compelling stories
Desired Qualifications
  • Spanish fluency and familiarity with Prince George’s County or Maryland
