The Research Associate will support the floriculture crop improvement research lab by organizing and conducting experiments in laboratory and controlled environments, including greenhouses and growth chambers. This role involves independent data collection and analysis, development and implementation of new research methodologies, and collaboration on grant proposals and publications. The ideal candidate will also assist in training students and interns in research techniques and plant culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, organize, and execute experiments in laboratory, greenhouse, and growth chamber settings.
• Independently collect, manage, and analyze experimental data.
• Develop and implement new or revised research methodologies.
• Assist the Principal Investigator in preparing new research projects and grant proposals.
• Train and mentor students and interns on research methods, plant culture, and data analysis.
• Prepare figures, reports, and documents for publication.
• Apply digital phenotyping technologies in research workflows.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of relevant research experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 3 years of relevant experience with an Associate's Degree.
• Experience conducting research with ornamental floriculture crops in controlled environments (greenhouses and growth chambers).
• Background in microbiology and microbiome research.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis using R Studio.
• Experience preparing figures and documents for publication and writing grants.
• Familiarity with digital phenotyping technologies.

Preferred Skills:

• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research setting.
• Experience mentoring or training others in a lab or greenhouse environment.
