Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 5 years of related transformer field service experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of transformer maintenance practices and oil processing is required.
  • Proven experience performing internal transformer inspections and repairs is required.
  • Experience with vacuum filling, oil handling, and transformer assembly is required.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment is required.
  • Basic computer application proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, email, and reporting tools, is required.
  • A valid Canadian driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  • The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances, such as background checks and site access clearances.
  • A valid passport is required.
  • The candidate must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing where permitted by law and required by the job site.
  • The candidate must be physically capable of lifting up to 34 kilograms (75 pounds), climbing, crawling, and working in industrial environments.
  • The candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment medical or fit-for-duty assessment.
  • The candidate must be able to work extended hours, overtime, and on-call rotations, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Perform inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of power and distribution transformers.
  • Identify and repair oil leaks and replace gaskets, seals, and related components.
  • Repair or replace radiators, bushings, and auxiliary transformer components.
  • Conduct internal transformer inspections and perform maintenance on load tap changers.
  • Operate vacuum dehydration and oil processing systems, including filtration, reclamation, and replacement.
  • Execute transformer vacuum filling and transformer assemblies.
  • Perform electrical testing according to NETA ATS and MTS standards.
  • Support commissioning, preventive maintenance, and outage response activities.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and reports using digital tools such as PowerDB.
  • Follow company, client, and regulatory safety procedures and standards.
  • Travel to client sites across Canada and the United States, up to 80%.
Desired Qualifications
  • Post-secondary technical training in Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology is preferred.
  • A Red Seal Electrician, Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, Motor Winder, or related trade or technical background is considered an asset.
  • NETA Certification at Level II–IV or equivalent Canadian experience, or the ability to obtain certification, is preferred.
  • Experience with PowerDB is an asset.
  • A TWIC card is considered an asset.
