Manager, Development
As a Manager, Development, you will manage all deployment phases of EV Realty’s commercial charging hub projects from early-stage development to construction: including siting, project feasibility, due diligence, design, utility coordination, permitting, and construction support. The ideal candidate possesses strong management skills and has relevant hands-on experience developing grid-optimized commercial electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Also, in this role, the candidate should have good decision-making and problem solving skills, drives continuous improvement of workflow system and efficiency, and can inspire, motivate and assemble people and stakeholders to get things done.
This role is a fully remote role in the Greater Los Angeles, CA area.
Principal Responsibilities & Key Results
- The Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of the implementation of charging hub projects.
- Manage and lead the development process of commercial electric vehicle charging hubs
- Represent EV Realty with local officials, regulators, utilities, and other stakeholders throughout the project development process
- Facilitate field site visits for due diligence on construction, engineering, and utility
- Review title reports and surveys for ownership, encumbrances, and easements; assess construction viability
- Oversee and manage permitting efforts and approval processes for charging hub projects
- Manage the preparation and delivery of permitting documentation
- Interpret technical engineering and environmental reports and studies to determine project impact and pertinence towards application requirements
- Provide reports to management including updates on project status and changes to regulations
- Manage project budgets, project design and generation distribution interconnection activities
- Help to coordinate the project interconnection process
- Plan, coordinate, review, and approve legal documents and plans for right-of-way/easement/property acquisitions
- Compilation and analysis of data for project stakeholders and partners
- Organize and supervise project budget, schedule and proforma
- Oversee project consultants: environmental, engineering, transmission, etc.
- Work cross-departmentally to maintain clear communication and smooth collaboration at all stages of the project development process
- Travel to project site locations and attend stakeholder meetings
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in development related field with a strong academic record
- 3+ years of project development experience; direct vehicle charging project, or distributed and/or utility-scale wind or solar development experience strongly preferred
- Solid track record in project management and contract negotiations
- Knowledge of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, AC and DC power, transformers, circuit protection, single-line electrical and mechanical diagrams, and construction drawings
- Experience with county and state permitting processes
- Skilled in reading, understanding and interpreting zoning ordinance and development code
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within and lead multi-disciplinary teams while earning buy-in from team members to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of projects
- Experience managing land agents and/or independent contractors
- Strong organization skills and ability to handle time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
- Strong work ethic and ability to productively take ownership of projects while communicating collaboratively throughout the project’s life cycle
- Adept at problem-solving and ability to identify the critical path issues
- Articulate with the ability to lead and assist with management, client, and public presentations
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Strong passion for electrification of transportation
- Exemplary standards of safety, honor, ethics, quality, communication, and productivity
- Willing and able to travel up to 40%
- Driving is an essential function of this job. This position must possess and maintain a current, valid driver license
