Plus Power develops battery energy storage systems (BESS) to improve the reliability and efficiency of the electrical grid. Their systems store excess energy and release it when needed, serving utility companies, grid operators, and renewable energy developers. A key project is the 185 MW 565 MWh Kapolei Energy Storage project in Hawaii, which provides services like fast frequency response and blackstart capabilities. Plus Power differentiates itself by focusing on optimizing project siting for long-term value and environmental stewardship, and it has a strong presence with over 7,000 MW of projects across 20 states. The company's goal is to enhance grid reliability while generating revenue through energy storage capacity and ancillary services in wholesale energy markets.
