POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a  Senior Devops Engineer to join our rapidly growing Technology team. This full-time position is remote within the United States. This high-profile role, reporting to the Manager of Devops, will have the exposure to influence the vision and implementation of architecture, design, and features for the world-class platform to disrupt the future of work. This individual will report to the  Devops Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop automation that supports Velocity Global’s cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices.
• Able to demonstrate cross team collaboration and go-getter attitude.
• Ability to design/develop Terraform  code and AWS Cloudformation templates for provisioning AWS resources.
• The ability and willingness to coach and mentor existing DevOps engineers on concepts, tools, and emerging technologies.
• Support increased observability of new and existing systems.
• The ability to influence and design infrastructure at a local and global scale, to account for resiliency and scalability.
• Create processes and tooling to assist developers in taking ownership of the operation of their products, i.e., microservices.
• Coordinate with stakeholders in both Security and QA early in the DevOps process.
• Collaborate with other contributors to create a highly predictable software delivery machine.
• Help to execute our technical vision and roadmap that align development activities and projects with company goals and core values.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

• Seven or more years in a DevOps or related role with significant experience in AWS, cloud infrastructure/architecture, CI/CD, IaC, and automation in an engineering organization.
• Ability to write Terraform and AWS Cloudformation templates
• Expertise with serverless environments and pipeline development.
• Able to perform database maintenance, including backups, performance monitoring, and tuning, is a significant plus.
• Strong knowledge of Gitlab/GitHub, Postgres, Okta, DataDog, and Expo.io is preferred.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (bash, python, ruby, etc.), SQL, and foundational networking concepts.   Golang is a plus.
• A degree in CS or a related field is excellent, but aptitude, experience, and passion matter more. We find that the best engineers come from many diverse backgrounds.
