Requirements
  • Maintain a current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
  • Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Medical Technology, or a related specialty.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competence in basic and advanced laboratory testing across all laboratory departments.
  • Demonstrate command of statistical principles governing documentation of laboratory test procedure accuracy.
  • Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to performing assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the health system.
  • Provide proof of legal authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Collect and prepare various body fluids for testing.
  • Perform, record, and interpret testing results.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of an assigned laboratory department when designated.
  • Serve patients of all ages in and out of the hospital.
  • Exercise limited authority over phlebotomy and clerical staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of practical experience as an actively licensed Medical Technologist in all laboratory testing areas, or equivalent on-the-job training for the same period.
  • Completion of one year of laboratory internship or two years of cumulative experience under the direction of an accredited program.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and technical expertise by coordinating laboratory personnel work assignments.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Interface effectively with physicians and practitioners.
  • Knowledge of university and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
