Requirements
  • Experience with PhD-level depth in artificial intelligence research, demonstrated through published work, open-source contributions, or direct startup/company experience in the field.
  • Strong foundations in large-scale training and media forensics.
  • Production experience taking research beyond the prototype stage into usable systems.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed training involving more than 10 billion parameters and multiple graphics processing units.
  • Experience with data curation, including filtering, deduplication, and pre-training, mid-training, and post-training data mixtures.
  • Experience with post-training alignment methods including supervised fine-tuning, direct preference optimization, proximal policy optimization, and reinforcement learning from human feedback.
  • Experience managing distribution shift and catastrophic forgetting.
  • Experience with multimodal augmentation strategies and graphics processing unit-level optimization where needed.
  • Experience with detection architectures including constrained convolutions, SRM filtering, and frequency-domain transformers.
  • Experience with signal processing, codecs, compression artifacts, and forensic fingerprints.
  • Experience with adversarial robustness against projected gradient descent, fast gradient sign method, re-compression, and downsampling.
  • Experience supporting multilingual and multicultural use cases.
  • Hands-on experience with red teaming using open-source and proprietary deepfake generators and attack agents.
  • Experience deploying models under latency, reliability, and production service-level agreement constraints.
Responsibilities
  • Own and advance the core engine across foundation-model development and media-integrity methods.
  • Develop foundation models through a full research-to-production pipeline.
  • Build media-integrity methods that detect synthetic speech and voice cloning, video and image manipulation, social engineering, and identity impersonation.
  • Deploy models and methods into production for telecommunications customers.
  • Balance immediate customer protection with forward-looking research into emerging artificial-intelligence communication threats.
  • Shape the research agenda.
  • Publish novel research and engage with the broader research community through conferences and events.
  • Integrate red teaming into the research and development cycle.

SYNHAWK builds security tools that stop AI-driven fraud by telling apart real communications from deepfakes in voice and video calls. Its suite includes HAWK 7 for detecting fake voices in real time, VYRA 9 for identifying manipulated video in calls or recordings, and PRIVA 3 for verifying voice messages and photos in messaging apps. The system uses proprietary AI models and datasets created by researchers who understand how deepfakes are made and defeated, enabling detection of both current and future threats. The platform targets telcos, enterprises, and critical infrastructure to offer a new security service for B2B and B2C customers, helping clients meet regulations like NIS2 and the AI Act while opening new revenue streams. In short, SYNHAWK aims to provide reliable identity verification and anti-fraud protection across voice, video, and messaging, so communications remain trustworthy.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Vodafone plans Verify app launches in autumn 2026, creating immediate distribution.
  • Synhawk claims sub-40ms latency, supporting real-time call and video interception.
  • European regulation pressure from NIS2 and the AI Act strengthens compliance-driven demand.

What critics are saying

  • Vodafone Czechia is Synhawk’s clearest reference customer; concentration risk stays extreme into 2027.
  • Deepfake attackers iterate fast; detection-only products face commoditization before network rollout.
  • If enterprise buyers reject ongoing subscriptions, Synhawk becomes a niche feature, not a durable company.

What makes Synhawk unique

  • Synhawk builds in-house foundation models, not wrappers, reducing third-party dependency risk.
  • Vodafone Czechia selected Synhawk for real-time deepfake protection across devices, meetings, and networks.
  • Its on-prem, edge, and air-gapped deployment fits telcos, governments, and critical infrastructure.
