Requirements
  • 8-10 years experience as a SOX compliance professional whether as a consultant, in industry, or a combination of both
  • Accounting or Finance degree
  • CPA or other applicable certification preferred
  • US Work Authorization required. Markel does not provide visa sponsorship for this position, now or in the future.
Responsibilities
  • Ongoing design and execution of the Markel Ventures SOX compliance model as it relates to the Markel Ventures companies
  • Periodic evaluation of risk, taking into consideration the impact of any changes in identified risk at Markel Ventures or Markel Group to the existing compliance model
  • Close working relationship with other functional areas to resolve issues and achieve business goals
  • Coordination of the quarterly Management Representation Letter process
  • Coordination of and point of contact for third party auditors as it relates to the Markel Group audit and the standalone audits of the Markel Ventures companies
  • Assistance with acquisition due diligence, as requested
  • Continuous improvement of processes
