Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to a secure government installation at Fort Belvoir, VA.
  • Niagara N4 Certification (preferred)
  • HVAC/R or controls-related certifications (preferred) (e.g., EPA Section 608, HVAC Controls Technician)
  • OEM-specific BAS training certifications (preferred)
  • Experience operating and maintaining commercial or institutional Building Automation System platforms
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, environmental controls, and mechanical equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting building automation systems and field devices
  • Proficiency with Building Automation System platforms such as Tridium Niagara, IntelliWeb, Metasys, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or similar systems
  • Understanding of BACnet, Modbus, and/or proprietary communication protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, control diagrams, and electrical schematics
  • Strong computer proficiency and analytical troubleshooting skills
  • Work Environment: The Building Automation System Operator works primarily in a control room or office setting but will routinely perform field inspections in mechanical rooms, exhibit spaces, and equipment areas
Responsibilities
  • Monitor and operate BAS platforms to manage HVAC, humidity, ventilation, and environmental systems.
  • Respond to system alarms and troubleshoot controllers, sensors, actuators, and communication networks.
  • Adjust schedules and setpoints to support museum environmental standards and energy goals.
  • Perform routine system checks, assist with preventive maintenance, and support repair activities.
  • Maintain system logs, generate reports, and coordinate work orders.
  • Collaborate with facility staff, contractors, and security teams to ensure system reliability and compliance.
  • Perform routine service to maintain, diagnose problems, repair, or test the HVAC systems at the Museum in a manner that shall ensure continuous, reliable, and safe operation.
