Requirements
  • A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field such as genomics, genetics, molecular biology, ecology, bioinformatics, public health, microbiology, biophysics, quantum biology, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to manage time and projects with personal initiative.
  • Ability to mentor trainees and perform job-related administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to travel as needed to collaborate on project objectives.
  • Ability to write scientifically, including regular reports, manuscripts for publication, and grant proposals.
  • Ability to organize seminars and lecture series for the project and wider NHGC and QBL communities.
  • Ability to respond to communications from the principal investigator and take direction.
Responsibilities
  • Design studies and conduct genomic sequencing, including whole genome sequencing, Sanger sequencing, and single-nucleotide polymorphism genotyping.
  • Analyze data, interpret findings, and publish and present results.
  • Collaborate with others to address health disparities in research.
  • Use a multidisciplinary approach combining genomics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, and social sciences to analyze factors contributing to health disparities.
  • Work with large-scale genomic datasets, including genome-wide association studies, next-generation sequencing data, and electronic health records, to identify genetic variants or biomarkers associated with health disparities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Advance research skills, publish research, and build a foundation for a future career during the postdoctoral appointment.
  • Participate actively and communicate during laboratory or group meetings, seminars, and scientific conferences.
  • Coordinate on-site and virtual meetings or lectures as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Computational experience with Chimera, PyMOL, or similar biomolecular modeling software.
  • Programming experience in Python, Fortran, and/or C.
