Requirements
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in the human services field or Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area (Section 22VAC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia)
  • Must possess or obtain within 30 days of hire a valid Virginia driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record based on James City County’s criteria
  • Knowledge of social work principles and practices including federal, state and local regulations affecting human service programs
  • Skill in use of computer software, especially Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to establish and implement effective administrative programs and procedures
Responsibilities
  • Provides effective supervision of assigned staff including selection, performance management, employee relations, training, prioritizing and assigning work and related activities
  • Provides direct services through assessment, crisis intervention counseling and therapeutic treatment methodologies
  • Provides guidance and training in the form of daily direct and indirect clinical and casework oversight; assigns cases; makes regular periodic review of all cases and ensures effective follow-up practices; coordinates staff conferences to review complex and difficult cases; provides guidance and direction for emergency situations
  • Oversees the preparation and maintenance of case records; ensures staff adheres to effective case management and follow-up practices; makes recommendations for improvements
  • Represents the agency on interagency councils, committees, community agencies and groups, both public and private; establishes cooperative programming with other agencies, departments and human service organizations; works with community groups and leaders to develop program needs
  • Provides 24-hour on-call supervision for critical programs and consultation on after-hours emergencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned
