About the position

As a Data Engineer at Vetcove, you’ll tackle complex data challenges by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines. You will be an integral part of our engineering team, responsible for building and optimizing the infrastructure that supports the data flows in and out of our production applications. In this role, you will also leverage advanced techniques, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI strategies, to programmatically clean and structure data, enabling more efficient data management and analysis.

What you’ll do

• Design and build infrastructure to efficiently ingest and support billions of records.

• Utilize databases such as ClickHouse for high-performance storage and querying of large datasets.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows, including ETL processes.

• Assist in integrating external data sources into our analytics team’s enterprise data warehouse (Snowflake) using data orchestrators (like Airflow and Dagster).

• Collaborate closely with backend application engineers to ensure seamless data integration.

• Apply LLMs and other AI technologies to automate data cleaning and structuring processes.

You should have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience using Python for data-centric programming tasks

• 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering.

• Proven experience implementing Large Language Models in data pipelines.

• Ability to design new features around data models with accuracy, security, and performance in mind

• Strong ability to process and analyze large volumes of quantitative and qualitative data.

• A methodical and analytical mindset with robust problem-solving skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is: $100,000/year - $160,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits.  There is a different range applicable to specific work locations. For Colorado, the salary range is: $110,000 - $140,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. This salary range is a good faith estimate of what Vetcove may pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, qualifications, and experience. The range reflects the base hourly rate or annual compensation (as applicable), and does not include bonus, equity or other incentives.
