Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least four years of formal IT-related job experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in the field of enterprise-level data networking
  • Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications.
Responsibilities
  • The Enterprise Network Engineer provides operational and project support for systems associated with the campus core network, data center network, campus local area network (LAN) and, internet services (WAN).
  • The Engineer will work closely with the Network Enterprise Systems team leader and Director of Infrastructure Systems to achieve the campus goal of a high-functioning core network.
  • Job responsibilities for this position will be to operate core network systems in a collaborative team environment with individual systems responsibilities assigned as needed in support of strategic goals.
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • An advanced degree in any field, such as a master’s degree
  • Master's degree in Information Technology
  • At least four years of IT experience in a formal role related to data networking
  • Proven experience with network routing and related protocols, network security management, and general network management
  • A network certification from a leading network technology vendor that displays proficiency in route/switch technology; JNCIS, CCNA, or equivalent
  • A network certification from a leading technology vendor in a specialization, such as data center, network security, virtualization, or equivalent
  • IT related work experience in higher education
  • IT related work experience in a large enterprise of 1000+ employees
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Able to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
