Requirements
- Bachelors degree, an advanced degree (e.g. MBA, JD and/or PhD) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8-10 years relevant work experience, including experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in alliance management, project management or business development at a biotech or pharmaceutical company
- Highly collaborative mindset with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication, influencing, and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge and understanding of drug discovery and development processes
- A strong aptitude for and interest in science
- Familiarity with legal agreements and partnering dynamics in the biopharma field
- Strong proactive problem-solving skills and business judgment
- Self-starter, ability to work independently and within teams to address complexity in growing, changing environments
Responsibilities
- Manage strategic collaborations as the primary point of contact for partners and as the bridge to Beam's internal project teams and leadership
- Establish and maintain trust, strong relationships, and open lines of communication between Beam and its alliance counterparts and influencers within partner organizations; navigate differences in cultures, processes, and policies
- Foster strong relationships with internal project teams and various functions within Beam
- Guide internal project teams with respect to opportunities and constraints arising from the collaboration agreement; ensure project aims, deliverables, and strategic objectives are met
- Ensure firewalls are appropriately implemented and teams appropriately trained
- Establish and facilitate stage-appropriate governance systems, including steering and operational committees and decision-making processes
- Monitor and track compliance with contractual obligations, such as development timelines, research updates, committee meetings, and milestone payments
- Support Beam and partner strategy and budget planning processes in partnership with Joint Committees
- Lead launch of new alliances to include pre-deal collaboration considerations, transitions to a new deal structure or wind-down of alliances as appropriate
- Proactively identify and problem solve issues and risks, conduct health checks, and identify opportunities to improve, expand, or redirect the alliance
- Participate in strategic discussions and negotiations for new partnering agreements with Business Development, Finance, and Legal
- Serve as the owner of certain Alliance Management business processes to improve capabilities and drive efficiencies; Document best practices where appropriate
