Requirements
  • Proven experience in commercial management within defence, shipbuilding, or related sectors.
  • Excellent financial acumen and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial principles, and industry regulations.
  • Managing experience and the ability to work in teams.
Responsibilities
  • Support the management of complex tenders and bids and oversee key client accounts within the defence and maritime sectors.
  • Support the supply chain management function in commercial and contract management.
  • Support strategic planning and finance to help ensure compliance with contractual, financial, and legal obligations.
  • Support the commercial elements of bids and help deliver mandated outcomes through commercial best practice and management discipline.
  • Serve as part of the bid management team.
  • Act as the prime commercial interface with the supply chain during the bid phase after Gate 2, supporting the Supply Chain Management Team.
  • Support the Business Development function during the pre-bid phase before Gate 2.
  • Collaborate on the commercial plan and organization required to support the project bid phase, identifying the tasks and personnel required for successful delivery.
  • Provide bid commercial support to the bid team and align Bid Managers and Procurement Managers across both delivery units with the solution and bid phase.
  • Support commercial negotiations with customers for main contracts, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Support supply chain commercial negotiations with suppliers for subcontracts, ensuring favorable terms, flow-down of the main contract, and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and production teams to resolve contract management issues.
  • Support the Supply Chain Management function on commercial matters, including non-disclosure agreements and terms-and-conditions management.
  • Assist the Commercial and Strategic Bids Director in developing and executing commercial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Support budgets and ensure the profitability of defence bids.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks, including disputes, claims, and variations, in support of the Risk Manager.
  • Support Business Development Leadership by building and maintaining relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support contract management for ongoing programmes and contracts, including relevant contract changes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of defence contracting and Defence Contracts (DefCons).
  • Experience dealing with Single Source Pricing Regulations.
