Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • The 2026 estate still needs staff for claims, records, and asset-sales administration.
  • July 2026 cybersecurity counsel retention created a new specialized legal-services need.
  • Remaining real-estate monetization at 305 Seventh Avenue keeps a small, active transaction workflow.

What critics are saying

  • Sheltering Arms filed Chapter 11 on March 7, 2024, and remains a wind-down.
  • July 2026 auction sold 305 Seventh Avenue, signaling continued asset liquidation, not growth.
  • CVA and abuse-related claims keep pressure on the estate, threatening any final recoveries.

What makes Sheltering Arms unique

  • Founded in 1831, Sheltering Arms built deep New York child-services relationships.
  • Its portfolio once spanned foster care, shelters, housing, mental health, and early education.
  • Program transfers to Rising Ground preserved client continuity and institutional knowledge in 2023.
