Job Description
Research Development Coordinator - BYU Marriott School of Business
The Research Development Coordinator assists faculty at BYU Marriott in expanding research culture by finding, developing, and writing grant proposals to foundations and government agencies for research funding. Working in coordination with the Research Development Office and the Research Administration Office, this position ensures compliance with sponsored agency policies, guidelines, rules, and regulations. As an integral part of the Dean's Office, this role reports to the Associate Dean of Faculty and plays a significant role in managing the Marriott Research Fellows program while contributing to the school's mission to develop leaders of faith, intellect, and character.
What you’ll do in this position:
Plan, prepare, execute, and participate in Research Development seminars, workshops, and trainings for faculty and graduate students
Manage the Marriott Research Fellows program by recruiting, hiring, training, managing, and deploying undergraduate research assistants
Work with Research Development Officer and Council to create college best practices
Provide IRB (Institutional Review Board) assistance for faculty and students
Identify and disseminate relevant internal and external grant-funding opportunities
Proactively encourage faculty to apply for external grants with information on opportunities, deadlines, eligibility, and requirements
Develop outlines, timelines, staffing, budgets, and templates for grants according to funding guidelines
Research new funding opportunities through government agencies, private foundations, and corporate foundations
Assist faculty in compiling grant submissions according to granting agency requirements
Input grant information accurately into proposal preparation software (Kuali system)
Edit grant applications and support faculty with the proposal revision process
Track active and successful grant submissions and their outcomes
Provide a year-end report to the dean related to all grant activities within BYU Marriott
Hire, train, and supervise Research Assistant (RA II) to support Research Development Coordinator
What Qualifies You for This Role
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and grant preparation and research management
Experience with grant proposals, research process, and/or project management
Willingness to learn new software
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work well with a variety of personalities
Self-motivation and ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree obtained or in progress
Experience in research at the university level
Grant writing certification
Familiarity with funding organizations and federal regulations
CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) training or equivalent
Research experience
Skills, Abilities, Knowledge, Licenses & Certifications
Technical Skills (Required): Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, good understanding of web searches, ability to learn new computer systems
Professional Abilities (Required): Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills for working with various personalities, time management to meet deadlines, high regard for privacy when dealing with confidential information
Knowledge Areas (Preferred): Research methodology, grant writing procedures, federal regulations regarding research funding
Certifications (Preferred): CITI or equivalent training/certification, grant writing certification

Compensation Range
Actual compensation based on education and experience
$28.20 - $35.78
