The Sr. Commodity Buyer will execute the strategy and lead suppliers’ commercial discussions and ensure the supplier’s performance, including the procurement of goods and services, selection of suppliers, development, and evaluation of supplier quality standards, and development and evaluation of supply chain process the general flow of goods. In addition, the Sr.- Commodity Buyer will be responsible for meeting all supply chain quality and timeliness requirements in direct support of development and production timelines while minimizing risk and ensuring compliance with all contractual and legal obligations.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:
-Identify, develop and manage key strategic supplier relationships
-Procure for inventory and non-inventory purposes all essential materials, parts, and services, ensuring timely delivery, high quality, and cost-effective pricing to meet development and production timelines
-Work closely with engineering and manufacturing to support strategic sourcing activities
-Manage comprehensive long-term suppliers’ agreements and purchase orders
-Assess and monitor supplier quality and key performance indicators
-Orchestrate the supplier performance evaluation process, determining and taking corrective action, as results require
-Own and manage the process used in supply chain management to respond in a timely fashion to requests for quotes and proposals
-Work closely with the Procurement Lead Manager to develop short-term and long-term budgets, KPIs reporting, and budget variance auditing
-Work closely with procurement, logistics, inventory management, and production to ensure material continuity by understanding market risk, supply flow lead times, and kitting need-by dates
-Support company-wide strategic sourcing, cost saving, cost avoidance, and value enhancement initiatives associated with long-term agreements
-Identify supplier success barriers and resolutions for improvement
-Manage KPIs to measure and improve strategic sourcing activities
-Track authorizations, correspondence, revisions, and contractual deadlines

Experience:
-BS or MS in Mechanical, Engineering, or equivalent, master preferred
-5+ years of relevant experience
-Strong background within the automotive industry and experience in a start-up environment is preferred
-Effectively negotiated strategic agreements with relevant suppliers to provide the lowest total cost of ownership
-Experience in quality management
-Significant operational improvement abilities
-Superior negotiation and strategic sourcing abilities
-Inbound/Outbound logistics experience (relationship management with local/national/international shippers)
-Inventory planning experience
-Ability to demonstrate skills in supply chain risk management and program planning
-Ability to read, negotiate, and develop legally binding agreements
-Strong computer skills, use of MS office suite and major brand MRP/ERP systems
-Demonstrated experience developing processes and procedures with operation personnel to improve productivity continuously
-Possess strong, high-level analytical, organizational, communication and facilitation skills along with the ability to influence others positively
-Demonstrated ability to collaborate and establish consensus within a group or team environment
-Ability to establish and build relationships across all levels and functions of the organization
