Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree and completion of a postgraduate year two residency in oncology or equivalent clinical experience (three years)
  • Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Beacon therapy plans for patients with cancer, utilizing specialized knowledge and expertise to optimize patient outcomes
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess patients' medication regimens and make recommendations for changes or adjustments as needed
  • Conduct thorough medication reviews and provide patient education on proper medication usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of medication therapy and make necessary interventions to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Serve as a resource for healthcare providers and other staff members regarding medication therapy for patients with cancer
  • Stay current with the latest developments and research in the field of oncology and incorporate new information into practice
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medication histories, assessments, and interventions
  • Provide clinical guidance and support to pharmacy staff, including technicians and students
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians and nurses, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients with cancer
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to pharmacy practice
  • Participate in professional development activities, such as continuing education, to maintain and enhance clinical skills and knowledge
