Java Software Architect

Overview:

As a Java Integration Architect at Sagent, you will play a key role in designing, building, and implementing a robust and scalable RESTful API ecosystem within a cloud-native and portable event-driven architecture currently focused on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will be responsible for leveraging event-driven architecture (EDA) principles and Confluent Kafka to ensure seamless communication and data exchange across our platform.

Your day-to-day at Sagent:

• You’ll be hands-on as we design and implement RESTful APIs and Kafka consumers and producers using Java and following best practices.
• Deeply understand event-driven architecture (EDA) principles and best practices, leveraging Confluent Kafka as a core technology.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to apply new patterns and approaches as we build out our platform.
• Lead the development of Centers of Excellence (COEs) focused on RESTful APIs and event-driven architecture.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in Java, RESTful APIs, Confluent Kafka, and related technologies, including GCP-specific integration services.
• Analyze existing systems and identify opportunities for improvement through optimization and automation.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for patterns and solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Assist other architects in enforcing API governance and best practices.

• 7+ years of experience as a Java developer or architect.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs using Java and best practices.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture (EDA) principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior developers.
• Passion for innovation and staying current with the latest technologies in the Java and API space.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) 

Bonus Points:

• Experience with API design methodologies and tools like OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Experience with API security best practices and frameworks.
• Experience with building and managing Centers of Excellence (COEs).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
