Walmart $1.3B Georgia fulfillment center to create 1,000 jobs.

Walmart $1.3B Georgia fulfillment center to create 1,000 jobs. Retail giant places next-generation fulfillment centers in strategic markets to support same-day and next-day shipping. September 3, 2026 1:20 PM, EDT Key takeaways: Walmart Inc. plans to begin construction in late 2026 on a $1.3 billion automated fulfillment center in Carnesville, Ga., a project expected to create 1,000 jobs and expand the retailer's same-day and next-day shipping capabilities. The 1.5 million-square-foot facility will be located at the Franklin 85 Logistics Center in Franklin County along Interstate 85, about 80 miles northeast of Atlanta, according to a release from the state. Walmart described the project as one of its next-generation fulfillment centers, which the retailer places in strategic markets to support same-day and next-day shipping across the United States. The release did not provide an expected completion or opening date. "As customer expectations continue to evolve, investments like our new fulfillment center in Carnesville help us deliver the speed, convenience and reliability customers count on," said Karisa Sprague, senior vice president of supply chain for Walmart U.S. "We're excited to join the Carnesville community and create meaningful career opportunities where associates can grow and build their future with Walmart," Sprague said. Gov. Brian Kemp said the project would bring employment opportunities to a rural part of Georgia and allow more residents to work closer to home. "This massive investment from Walmart in a rural part of our state will not only create new, good-paying jobs for hardworking Georgians, it will also allow them to work close to home rather than commuting to a larger city for work," Kemp said. Walmart operates 209 Walmart stores and Sam's Clubs and 11 supply chain facilities in Georgia, employing more than 65,300 associates. During fiscal 2025, Walmart spent more than $26.2 billion with Georgia suppliers and supported more than 167,600 supplier jobs in the state. The Georgia Department of Economic Development pursued the project in partnership with the Franklin County Industrial Building Authority, Georgia EMC and Georgia Quick Start. Assisted by AI.

Walmart adds Dunkin' delivery to orders at 10,000 US locations

Walmart now offers Dunkin' delivery through its website and app. The service initially launched through 150 in-store Dunkin' locations and will expand to most of Walmart's 10,000 US locations. The retailer is positioning itself as a restaurant delivery contender through collaboration with Inspire Brands. Eligible customers will see Dunkin' as an option under the "restaurants" tab based on their delivery address. Walmart previously expanded express delivery to Subway orders in June, marking its first restaurant integration. During second quarter earnings, the company reported 43% growth in store-fulfilled delivery, with orders under three hours representing around 37% of store-fulfilled orders. Competitor Target began testing Starbucks orders through its Drive Up service in 2022.

Walmart and Inspire Brands collaborate on delivery deal for Dunkin'

Walmart and Inspire Brands collaborate on delivery deal for Dunkin' Sep 3 2026 . Dunkin' will launch first via its 150 in-store tenant locations, with plans to expand to the majority of its 10,000 locations outside of Walmart stores nationwide. Walmart is expanding its restaurant delivery business through a collaboration with Inspire Brands, a global multi-brand restaurant company whose portfolio includes Dunkin', giving customers a fast, affordable way to get the Dunkin' beverages and meals they love alongside their Walmart orders. Building on its entry into restaurant delivery earlier this summer, Walmart continues to expand the restaurants available through its app, including restaurants located beyond its stores. Dunkin' will launch first via its 150 in-store tenant locations, with plans to expand to the majority of its 10,000 locations outside of Walmart stores nationwide. Customers will soon be able to order from Dunkin' restaurants located both in-store and outside Walmart stores directly through the Walmart app or Walmart.com. By delivering beyond in-store tenants, Walmart will create an even stronger delivery ecosystem that makes it possible to have restaurant beverages and meals delivered alongside Walmart orders. With its growing delivery speed capabilities and offerings, Walmart is a rapidly emerging contender in the restaurant delivery business. With an unparalleled store footprint within 10 miles of approximately 90% of the U.S. population, and its ability to leverage its established last-mile delivery network, Walmart is uniquely positioned to scale this capability rapidly. "The future of retail is about meeting customers wherever they are and simplifying their lives. By expanding restaurant delivery beyond our stores, we are offering a value and convenience proposition that is unmatched," said Greg Cathey, Senior Vice President, eCommerce Fulfillment Transformation, Walmart. "Walmart is built to support real life, and together with Dunkin', we're enabling customers to order their beverages, donut or sandwich alongside their paper towels, milk and household essentials - all through a delivery experience they already know and love." "Our goal is simple: make it even easier for guests to enjoy Dunkin' whenever and wherever they want it. By bringing Dunkin' into the Walmart shopping experience, we're creating another convenient way for guests to get their favorite beverages and meals at the speed of Dunkin'," said Dunkin' Brand President and Inspire Chief Brand Officer Scott Murphy. "By combining the strength of Walmart's delivery platform with the appeal of our Dunkin' menu, we can reach more guests in more moments, creating an experience that fits naturally into everyday life." Eligible customers will automatically see Dunkin' as an option in the Restaurants tab on the Walmart app based on their delivery address. They can access the menu, customize beverage and food selections, and check out using the same familiar experience they already use for their everyday shopping.
