Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS), unless an equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • At least five years of experience, unless an equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • At least one certification in the current platform, domain, or technical skill, obtained upon hire.
  • Advanced programming experience in a business setting.
  • Proficiency in at least one software engineering methodology, including Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, Extreme Programming, Kanban, Lean, or Rapid Application Development.
  • Programming experience with languages or technologies such as Ruby, Python, Java, C, C++, C#, COBOL, SQL, .NET, JavaScript, or database administration.
  • Experience with the Oracle platform.
  • Experience applying structured validation and testing methods, including unit, integration, system, acceptance, or regression testing.
  • Familiarity with version control.
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and database management.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, including encryption and authentication.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and software alerting and notifications.
  • Experience with continuous delivery, code peer review, distributed monitoring and logging, distributed tracing and analysis, operational response automation, and product telemetry.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented development, DevOps engineering practices, the DevSecOps lifecycle, secure software development lifecycle practices, and Agile frameworks.
  • Experience with full-stack, mobile, and web development, site reliability engineering, technology-specific frameworks, and solution design.
  • Ability to identify and analyze risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact.
  • Ability to identify complex business and technology risks and associated vulnerabilities.
Responsibilities
  • Lead requirements management, software design and engineering, and testing activities across all stages and iterations of medium-complexity software development and integration initiatives using agreed models, methods, and tools.
  • Assist with the selection, adaptation, and adoption of new models, methods, and tools.
  • Collaborate with parties involved in product, systems, or service design.
  • Own medium-impact or medium-value services or products when assigned.
  • Define, document, and execute medium-sized projects within business objectives and resource constraints while following enterprise architectures and change, release, risk, and quality-management processes.
  • Maintain software support processes and documentation.
  • Use software management tools to investigate and resolve moderately complex issues, prioritize and diagnose incidents, collect system statistics, and create reports.
  • Develop system and acceptance testing criteria for functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, features, business processes, and business rules.
  • Design, specify, and execute test cases and scenarios.
  • Evaluate user experiences of programs and products and validate usability, accessibility, and visual design requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and apply tools and documentation to track, log, and maintain accurate and complete system information.
  • Audit medium-complexity software systems for adherence to configuration standards.
  • Plan and conduct assigned assurance assessments and suggest quality and safety improvements.
  • Identify, analyze, and document software-related safety risks and propose corrective actions.
  • Monitor supplier performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Engage proactively with suppliers to resolve incidents and problems.
  • Maintain knowledge of software engineering practices, emerging trends, and technologies.
  • Provide technical advice to project teams and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Observe contractor work when applicable.
  • Review and approve invoices when the work meets contractual standards, when applicable.
  • Address contractor performance issues when possible, when applicable.
  • Escalate issues to other parties when needed, when applicable.
  • Work outside regular hours when required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong full-stack development experience using Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, REST APIs, SQL, and modern web frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing generative artificial intelligence solutions using large language models, Azure OpenAI, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector search, and prompt engineering.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence agents and agentic workflows, including tool or function calling, orchestration, and multi-agent architectures.
  • Experience with Azure AI services, including Azure AI Search, Document Intelligence, Azure AI Foundry, and conversational AI.
