About the Role:
Our early-stage team is seeking a Senior 3D Reconstruction Engineer to work on cutting-edge AR/VR features. You will work with computer vision engineers and scientists on mapping users’ body gestures, surroundings, and room layouts. You will be part of a small team of talents from companies like Apple and Meta, who have published SOTA papers on Deep Learning for Spatial data.
Your Responsibilities:
Our state-of-the-art AR/VR headset relies on understanding the space in 3D around the user in high resolution and real-time. You will work on our 3D reconstruction pipeline.
The 3D data will be used in 3 ways: A. at extremely low latency for body gesture tracking, B. coupled with semantics to understand the user’s close surroundings, and C. aggregated offline to remap SLAM into high-resolution maps of entire rooms.
You are responsible for defining metrics and benchmarks.
Your metrics and benchmark results will be shared alongside everyone within the 3D/Computer Vision team that celebrates metrics improvements and rigorously analyzes decreased performance.
Your Qualifications:
At least 6+ years of experience developing SfM/SLAM/3D reconstruction algorithms
Experience in bundle adjustment and backend optimization (e.g., GTSAM, g2o, CERES)
Experience in sensor fusion, such as using stereo camera pairs or depth sensors (LiDar, dTof, iToF, structured light, etc.)
Experience working with 3D meshes and 3D point clouds is required
NURBS and Distance Fields are a strong plus
Strong programming skills in C++
Experience with low latency / high bandwidth real-time data pipelines, multi-process / multi-threaded pipelines, and batch data processing pipelines
Ability to own and drive highly visible performance metrics (e.g., latency, memory, bandwidth, power) in a team where each metric improvement is celebrated!
Analysis and optimization of the perception software stack for GPU, ARM, DSP, or similar SIMD/VLIW architectures is a plus
Experience in photogrammetry, orthophotography mosaics, and digital elevation models is nice to have
Experience with the latest deep learning models for 3D reconstruction (NeRF, Gaussian Splatting…) is nice to have
