Kent is looking for a Senior Electrical/Heat Tracing Designer.
You will report to the Electrical & Instrumentation Discipline Manager and be assigned to various projects associated with the Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals industry as directed by the Project Management group.
You will possess a solid understanding of electrical design principles complemented by practical working experience with industrial power distribution systems within Oil and Gas processing facilities. You are required to be a well-organized and effective communicator. You will be able to work independently and may lead a team of professionals (Designers) and be effective when working in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the design processes involved in an electrical project, including ensuring that drawings are ready on time, reviewing designs and making them available to the appropriate people.
- Develop single-line diagrams, motor schematics and wiring drawings.
- Develop electrical layouts such as cable tray, lighting, grounding, electrical aboveground and underground power, electrical area classification layouts and electrical room layouts.
- Perform design calculations such as lighting, cable tray fill and cable sizing etc.
- Develop electrical BOMs / MTOs.
- Develop electrical cable schedules and panel schedules.
- Review and check electrical drawings and documents prepared by other team members for code compliance, constructability, and project requirements.
- Provide procurement support for electrical bulk items.
- Perform heat tracing calculations, EHT zoning, and develop heat tracing deliverables such as EHT ISO, layouts, panel schedule, and controller set point schedule.
- Review vendor designs for compliance with technical specifications and applicable standards.
- Develop engineering work packages or Construction work packages.
- Supervise and mentor team members.
- Attend project team meetings, client meetings and vendor review meetings.
- Establish a good working relationship with our clients.
- Perform field visits to validate existing drawings and confirm tie-in locations.
- Utilize the workshare office or HVEC (High-Value Engineering Center) to complete the electrical deliverables.
- Assist electrical lead as required.

| Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: |
|
|
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
- Minimum two-year diploma in electrical engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the design of electrical distribution systems for Oil & Gas facilities.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
- Experience in the EPC industry, leading the local and workshare team will be an asset.
- Proven leadership skills, team player, multi-tasker with strong organizational skills.
- Experience with AVEVA E3D or any other 3D Software will be an asset.
