  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, or similar
  • 10 years in industry, proven experience in program management (technical preferred)
  • Experience leading sophisticated, fast-paced programs with broad scope and enterprise level visibility spanning multiple teams and organizations, often with conflicting priorities and schedules
  • Effective at building consensus across different functions
  • Self-motivation and passion to develop your teams, encourage standard methodologies, and constantly improve processes
  • Thrive in ambiguity, crafting simplicity and order
  • Passion for self-driving car technology, safety, and its impact on the world
Responsibilities
  • Define the vision, strategy and roadmap plan to successfully achieve safety case completeness to support the program launch.
  • Define program governance structure to detail how safety case development will be conducted, support executive forums to escalations and resolve issues, and drive safety case continuously improvement.
  • Lead our executives and key partners elegantly through decisions to drive toward our launch goals and help ensure high safety standards are maintained through engineering and operations execution constraints.
  • Compile and lead a program core team through the development and execution of each safety case (possibly including hiring a small team of direct reports as appropriate to serve as framework advisors, goal vertical aggregators or other needs)
  • Ensure program core team members operate as accountable sub-program leads with appropriately staffed cross functional sub-teams
  • Use a variety of artifact and planning tools to synthesize requirements, evidence storage and timelines between organizations that use both Agile and waterfall-type methodologies.
  • Balance technical and analytical insights with intuition to formulate compelling resource strategies while adjusting quickly to new information.
  • Be responsible for program milestones and timelines, helping our teams determine and achieve their goals
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Develop and institute the appropriate level of process to balance structure and flexibility.
  • Use technical judgment in working with large, cross engineering teams to arrive at mutually agreeable solutions, escalate to technical leadership as required. Decompose multi-faceted engineering challenges into clear and measurable risks and achieve consensus for team recommendations.
  • Establish a method for traceability from safety case claim, argumentation, and evidence.
  • Drive accountability across the team through clear communication of goals and expectations, consistent follow-up and reporting, and creating a supportive environment. Drive a culture of thorough and clear metrics development to measure, achieve, and exceed safety standards.
  • Actively demonstrate GM behaviors and safety professionalism in your decision-making and everyday activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Engineering or MBA
  • Technical experience with autonomous vehicles or other sophisticated, high-quality products from design through launch and scale.
  • Safety Case development experience in robotics, aerospace, transportation or similar with familiarity balancing trades between depth and breadth of implementation.
  • System engineering experience such as requirement and technical specification development, evaluation, and documenting evidence of conformance to the requirement
